LONGMONT STUDIO TOUR Now in its eighth year, the 2007 Longmont Studio Tour features over 49 local artists who open their studios to the community one weekend in September. Longmont Studio Tour provides an opportunity for the community to see where and how artists work. The artists open their studios, demonstrate their skills and interact with the community on a level that is not normally easily accessible. Because artists tend to work in solitary environment, this community interaction allows the artist to receive feedback and allows the visitor to enter into the artist’s world for a moment. The community can preview each of the participating artists’ work at the Preview Exhibition held at the Great Frame Up. Maps to the artists’ studio are available at the exhibition, the Longmont Council for the Arts office and MUSE gallery at 356 Main Street, and in various locations throughout Boulder County and Denver metro area. OUTREACH In addition to the tours, the Longmont Studio Tour artist-members also offer numerous outreach programs throughout the year including demonstrations and free workshops. In 2006 the outreach program expanded with a project to reach our Latino community. The Longmont Studio Tour is partnered with the Salud Family Health Center to bring art to the clinic and the community. The goal of the project is to work with the clients of the clinic to create and select art for the clinic. Longmont Studio Tour artists will offer free demonstrations and workshops for the clients. This project is a multi-year project and the Longmont Studio Tour anticipates that by building a relationship with the Latino community we will be able to better serve them and also discover the artists that already exist. The project began with a rotating exhibitions at the clinic, and art is created specifically for the space including the murals and permanent collection. 2007 Longmont Studio Tour Calendar 2007 Art at Salud Exhibition Calendar
